Spring has arrived! …

Today, Saturday, 12th March, is the official first day of Spring in Istanbul, or at least this is what I want to believe it to be. After two horrid days of snow and icy winds, we are finally back to blue sky, sunshine and temperatures above 10 degrees! We are expecting 19 degrees next week! The birds were singing for the first time today, one could sit outside and enjoy tea, the sun was warm and bright – just what the doctor ordered!

On Thursday was an opening of one of the biggest Turkish contemporary art exhibitions ever held. The show 20 Modern Turkish Artists of the XXth Century-1940-2000 takes place at Santralistanbul (http://www.santralistanbul.org/main/index/en). More than 400 works from the 1940s to the present day – all from one private collection.

And last night I had dinner with friends and we went to a relatively new restaurant. It opened only last year in Beyoğlu called Dai Pera:

It is a family-run restaurant and we had the pleasure to meet the daughter who does all the cooking and is very passionate about food and loves to experiment and give old Turkish recipes a new twist. Their selection of wines is just as good as their food. They really care about the details.

Dai Pera

And so it continues …
